Books of the Month
Every month, the MSU Book Club selects a book of the month for the group to read! This book can be from any genre, and is completely random from nominations we receive. The book club votes on which book they'd like, and we dedicate our month to celebrating that specific book!
This month is an incredibly special month because we selected two books! Members can pick one book to read this month or read them both!

The Art of Letting Go by Nick Trenton
and Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
The Art of Letting Go by Nick Trenton
"Your mind should be your safe zone, not the noisiest place in the world. Restore your inner peace.
If you are always on edge and unable to relax, this book is for you. Choose the pace that you want to live life at - you DO have a choice.
Control your thoughts; control your life; control your happiness.
The Art of Letting Go is all about organizing the mess in your mind. It's about how to stop focusing on the past that is over, or the future that may never occur, and being present in the situations that you can actually have agency in. It's about how to rewire the anxious connections in your brain, and switch your mental programming and beliefs. It's about understanding that our brains are made for 10,000 BC, and that you can afford to let your guard down.
It's about trusting that things will be okay." - Goodreads
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
"Piranesi’s house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite, its corridors endless, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues, each one different from all the others. Within the labyrinth of halls an ocean is imprisoned; waves thunder up staircases, rooms are flooded in an instant. But Piranesi is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house.
There is one other person in the house—a man called The Other, who visits Piranesi twice a week and asks for help with research into A Great and Secret Knowledge. But as Piranesi explores, evidence emerges of another person, and a terrible truth begins to unravel, revealing a world beyond the one Piranesi has always known." - Goodreads

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
Our book club celebrated Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow over the summer. This book focuses on video games and how life doesn't always go according to plan. It's full of fun references and emotional moments. It's a fantastic coming of age story that our book club greatly enjoyed, and we highly recommend it for video game fans!

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Our book club loved reading The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides! This mystery/thriller opened doors for captivating discussions and conversation. For this book, we had the opportunity to channel our inner Alicia and express our creativity through art. We painted our own versions of the cover and had enough supplies to let everyone paint their own art as well! It was a fantastic way to start the club, and we can't wait to see what comes next!
